Connecting USB to my Command

I just bought a 2009 E-350 today but I cannot figure out how to connect a USB device. The Command Manual shows a cable with Ipod, AUX and USB connectors but the cable in my glovebox seems to only have 2 legs (1 for ipod control and 1 for Aux audio). Did they give me the wrong cable or wrong book or is there a USB port hidden somewhere in the car ??

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with the new command system compared to my 2006, (traffic, bluetooth with my iphone, memory cards with music, ipod control, DVD changer with video capabilities and it handles folders much better on all 6 discs in the changer). In fact, I am selling my old Euro Command with rear MB screen on Ebay if you have an older W211 and want Video in motion with MP3s, etc...

Shouldn't you need the Media interface to be able to use a USB stick:

Or is this one only for the Audio 20 head unit?

But why would you want to use a USB stick instead of a big memory card (not sure how big are available in the format the E-class accepts)?

At the last minute MB decided to change to an ipod/aux cable only for the US with the media interface. The USB cable is supposed to be available soon but it is not just yet ( i checked a few days ago)

Do you have any problems with loading address book from phone?

Does anybody know how to prepare addresses to load from memory card? Just .vc files?

I don't have this feature but there was another thread that confirmed it would work if you download contacts from Outlook as ".vcf" files, I believe the advice was to put one visitor card per file but I'm not sure if this is necessary.

Got the USB cable

I found a link somewhere here "mydirectparts.com" but I got an email saying that Mercedes has blocked the sale of the cable and my order would be cancelled.

Two days later the cable showed up in the mail

I have a 32 gig usb thumbdrive on there right now and it supports folders with sub-folders, etc...64 gig USB thumbdrives are also starting to drop in price.

I'm thinking I should just get a 160 gig ipod and put most of my music on it and be done with it

Sorry to bump this old thread, but really wanted to make sure I'm getting the right cable.

I recently bought a 2009 E350 SS that has the Harmon Kardon package and the proprietary port in the glove box. Unfortunately, there was no cable.

Question is, what is the correct cable to purchase? There seem to be so many on ebay that list they are compatible with the 2009 model E Class, but I don't want to purchase one, only to find out that it won't work.

TIA.
