Tickets For No Front Plate
Well, I just got my plugs from bumperplugs.com for my front license plate. In CA it is required to have a front license plate, but the car looks so much better w/o it. Let's say if I do get a ticket and have to go to the court to show them (last time when they gave me a ticket for dealer plates, they didn't even check the car), how would I mount it without having to take the plugs out and put the frame back in.

Here's what I did. Zip tie the plate to the grill. Go to local CHP office and REVERSE into a parking spot. Run into to grab an officer to let him know that I needed my ticket signed off. He told me he saw me backing in - no need for him to go inspect the car.

I would hate to live in a state that required those things...

Tow Hook mounting
If you have $100, I have a plate mount that attaches to the tow hook. Pop out the little tow hook cover, screw the plate on, take to Cop Shop, go back home, unscrew and pop on cover again.

I leave mine on - looks european iimho. I did think of taking off and doing above. But the cops in NY can pull me over for no plate...then they'll get me for my 35% window tint. They can't pull me over for just tint
I am not affiliated to this site. I just think it's a cool idea, and want to share the knowledge. My car came from PA and no plate was mounted. MB quote me a similar cost for the hunk of plastic to fix to the bumper after DRILLING it. Sure didn't want to do that. I agree with those who pointed out that tight parking spaces, might trash this. But that is not an issue for me.

Or just leave the dealer plates on your car and have no plates but the required registration you recv'd when you bought your car taped to the windshield. It qualifies as legal registration for your car.

2005 E500 with 'some' BRABUS upgrades
My car is very flashy and it gets noticed from a mile away. I run NO plates at all and I have my reasons I've been pulled over about 4 times and every time the cop just wants to know if its a real brabus car straight from Germany 
I just say YUUUP and they let me go. No license check, insurance etc etc
MB's and BMW's usually don't get pulled over for stupid stuff like that. The cops usually keep an eye out for other stuff on the road (expired tags, broken tail lights etc etc) that can really help them and help the others on the road.
A buddy of mine owns a 2003 745Li white with white 22" Asantis and he has ran the BMW OF SAN DIEGO plates since he got the car. Not once has he been pulled over. My friends that are cops tell me that they got better things to do then pull someone over in a nice car cause 99.9% of the time they got the insurance, current reg and totally legit
