2008 Paris Motor Show Preview: The Mercedes-Benz ConceptFASCINATION
What makes the new ConceptFASCINATION so interesting, however, is that while it is a concept, its styling elements (most notably, the front end) mimic closely those set to debut on both the 2010 Mercedes E-Class and the 2010 Mercedes CLK-Class. Rhomboid headlights, a more distinct V-shape and a hood with more pronounced contours and a central ridge are a few of the similarities shared by the three models.

I don't think it's meant to be an "E". It's a concept car, bit of E, bit of CLK. At least that's what I got out of the story. There's another thread about it on here. Each time I see the photo, I like it more and more!
