COLOR MATCHED GRILL HELP..

Well this is my thread on this forum so I would like to say hello. I have been been lurking here for a while an it seems there is alot of great info and willingness to help without all of the backbiting seen on other forums.

I currently own a 2005 E500 sport in pewter. I have added the 19 5 spoke
amg style wheels, front spoiler lip, rear trunk and roof spoilers. I am concidereing having my wheels color matched to the car as well as the front
grill. So my questions are for those of you that have a color matched grill.

1. Did you use the exsisting grill, scuff, prime and paint.
2. if painted to match, does the paint hold up to chips and debris
3. is there a better grill to use, AMG??

..thanks in advance...you guYS rock

Yes, paint the front grill! The 07-08 Grill is more aggressive looking but you would have to change your front bumper in order to make it fit. I don't know about color matching your wheels. Go with aftermarket brushed finished!

Also, there isn't an AMG grille really, there's the 5 slat that comes with the E Sports and E55, and the 4 slat with wider spaces that come with the "Elegance" cars and the AMG Sport equipped ones. If yours is like mine, you have the 4 slat, I personally prefer that over the 5 slat. Also, my Car is also pewter, and the slats are painted seemingly pewter too, which work great with our color obviously, not sure if the slats on yours are the same color as mine though....Should be.

Then like MPX said there's the '07-'08 grille option with the bigger pointier nose, but you'd have to change some other stuff. IMO it's all just preference.

Thanks guys for all of the info. I will try to post some pics here in the next few days. I have been busy insulating and drywalling the garage waiting for my 928 to return from the paint shop.
