snow tires on e class

Can you put snow tires on the rear of the E Class- or do u put snow tires on all 4 rims?

What is the correct way to go and can anyone recomend how the car performs? And what tires do I go with

Please note this is for the Sport Package

On my last E (99 320) I ran a set of 4 Bridgestone Blizzak. It ruins the ride and handling, but saved my butt in snow. I'll let the new street tires on the E500 get me through this winter, then swap out for Blizzaks (or something other) next winter. I got three seasons out of the last set of Blizzaks.

I had a set of Michelin Pilot Alpins 234/45/17 on my 98 E430, however, it never snowed. However, I was so pleased with the tire I was in no hurry to remove when spring came. The tire was quiet, handled well and looked like a regular tread.

I believe conventional wisdom is to use the same tires on all four wheels. Blizzaks and Alpins appear to be the tires of choice in this forum.
