2006 Merc E350 Single CD Player

I have a 2006 Merc E350. I can play mp3 cd in my cd player (i am not talking about 6 CD changer).

i can play mp3 disc in my single cd player but when i turn off ignition of car & later after 30 mins or few hours when i start my car & play the mp3 cd in my single disc player, cd starts from the first song. so earlier if i was listening to song# 50 now it would start from song#1 as i turned off the ignition for few mins / hours.

Is this standard with all Merc E350 or my single disc player has some problem.

Also from where can I buy cable for my 2006 E-Class so I can connect my iPod in my glove box and control it through my steering wheel. Also how much does that cost? Any brand name you can recommend?

Any help/reply would be highly appreciated.

You might want to see if there is a COMAND software update available for your head unit. The latest software update addresses many MP3 playback issues. One way to tell if you have an old version is if you are viewing Map mode on the nav screen, the coordinates on the old software are written case-correct as in "North" and "West" and the new software is written "NORTH" and "WEST" in all caps.

For iPod playback, your main options are the Mercedes OEM iPod adapter which can be bought for $250-$300 typically and is best installed by your Mercedes dealer, or a Dension Gateway 500 (http://www.dension.com/icelinkgateway500.php) if you want to control the iPod through the COMAND instead if the IC.

The COMAND Upgrade Software is 211 589 14 22 00 and you can order that from your local Mercedes-Benz parts counter.

Any opinion which option sounds better? Where does the Dension mount? Is it in place of the 6CD changer?

Not sure on that - I haven't ever heard a non HK system.

Also, not sure on the mounting I would imagine underneath the kickpanel on the passenger side, which is where the OEM iPod integration kit is located. It doesn't appear to be very large.

Command software is the latest. When I insert a mp3 disc in my single disc player it plays properly. Then for example when I am at song# 50 i turn off the engine and after 30 mins when I turn on my engine the mp3 disc from the single disc player starts playing from the first song which doesnt make sense. any ideas / suggestions???
