Fuel Pump
Had a funny noise from my fuel pump a couple of weeks ago, like a squeaking noise. Car has only done 77000. Anyway, driving up a hill, put my foot down and the car died, let my foot off the gas and it was ok. Threw up an engine light though as i suspect it got a misfire signal due to fuel starvation. Knowing it was unreliable i took it to my m8 who runs a merc garage straight away. They replaced the pump. £420 for the pump itself and £60 to fit it.
ALSO there was 7 recalls on the car one of them being a replacement SBC pump.
My question is...I had this car serviced at another merc dealership only 4 months ago and there was NO mention of any recalls. Are they supposed to inform me of this? and if so, and my SBC pump had failed whilst i was driving, hence causing a crash, would they be liable?
The other recalls i know of were the ball joints and they upgraded the sat nav to 2007 disc. (They also wanted to update the command unit but i asked them not to cuz I still wanted to be able to play dvd's whilst driving)
Still waiting to find out what the other 3 recalls were.
