Extended Warranty: Dalimer Chrysler vs. Pentagon vs. 'Self Insure'
MB started adding a 15% surcharge recently if the warranty is not purchased within the first thirty days of the vehicle purchase.
I agreed with you that I would rather have the MB warranty then a third party warranty with some of the denial that I have read.
I selected the MB warranty for my 2009 E550. I could have selected the Chryler-Diamler warranty for about $600.00 less. I am not sure what will happen to Chryler-Diamler warranty if Chryler is bought out.
they did not even offer a mb warranty and said fidelity is better than the mb warranty. i found that really strange but since it was a mb dealership (mb of massapequa) i guess i trusted them. however after reading all these horror stories im now worried i jus threw away 5k

There were several complaints about Fidelity on the a consumer web site.

Call this guy if you're interested in Damiler Chrysler warranty. He blew away Lisa's pricing for me.

For example, current prices:
Smart Auto Warranty, $3200. Bogus, they are a broker, not the administrator. Spoke with the managers and they stated with MB's their labor rates may not match the dealer. The guy had the nerve to mention taking the car to a non-MB shop if they would not accept what they were willing to pay.

Warranty Direct offered a warranty for $4100, $250 deductible.
Deductible is high, labor rates are in question. I spoke with a manager at WD about this, and he said they may be instances where the labor rates may not match. However, WD is solid and have been in business for about 26 years. They have good BBB ratings.
**In my case, I had to cancel the warranty due to my primary dealers that would not take any aftermarket warranties.** This does not apply to all MB dealers, but you take a chance on it.
The aftermarket MB was selling was $4600, $500 deductible.
Covered by any MB dealer, deductible is ridiculous.
MB Extended, $5900, $0 deductible.
Sure the MB was higher, but covered for 7 yrs./100K miles. Everything is covered but wear items. No question of payment with any MB dealer. When dealing with deductibles, they can easily eat right back up to the cost of a MB warranty and beyond.
So it varies, it even depends on the car. For the higher end MB's they are expensive to repair. In your case, WD or DC may work just fine.

Here's the latest update:
Chrysler Warranty (additional 5 yr / to 100K / $100 Deductible):
Lisa: $3495
Mike (Chrysler of Barrington): $2495
I've pretty much made up my mind to do the Chrysler Warranty through Mike. 1) My dealer can work with them
2) Am confident that regardless of Chrysler's future, the warranty will remain solvent for the 5 years
3) Price can't be beat
Before I pull the trigger - any last comments / suggestions?
Thanks!
Chip
