Consumer Reports - E-Class on "Recommended List"
Just recently announced was that 6 Mercedes-Benz models have made the Consumers Reports "Recommended List". These include the E350, S550, SL, ML, SLK and C-Class. There were no MB models on the list last year. While the overall ranking is only 27th (from 33rd last year) which shows there is still a ways to go, at least MB is clearly headed in a good direction.

Just got the 12/08 CU today. They name the V8 E-Class and the Cadillac STS with the dubious distinction of the worst reliability of any luxury car!
So is the E350 that much better?

E320 Bluetec Perfection !
Great fuel economy, breathtaking highway performance, superb comfort and first class build quality, what more could one ask for ?

I should also mention that the navigation system works very well; it performed flawlessly on a recent 6500 km trip from Vancouver to Santa Fe, NM and return via San Francisco. Every step along our journey, the pleasant sounding uber navigator guided us without any errors !

E350 uses different engine, which obviously has higher production volume. It makes me think that it was better tested and more reliable.
Most of CR recommendations are solely based on price, so it is a reason why Asian cars win. Can you believe I can buy Lexus LS460 for around $57K?
