Finally!!! Got the E500 today!

Been enjoying it only briefly, as I learn all the features of this car, which is quite a change from my Boxster S, it being just a bare-bones driving machine with heated seats, basically...

What is frustrating me most is trying to figure out the drive dynamic seats - when I test drove ElDiabloJoe's E500 sport with DD seats, I could feel them right away. Of course, the switch is on, so don't even make that comment, but what I seem to be feeling is not side bolster movement but rather that of the back of the seat in the lumbar area. The Pulse is not on, so that's not what's going on, it's just that I feel the lumbar area inflate when I corner, but not the side bolsters!! Wonder if it is defective...

Any tips? I've tried changing it in the menu from level one to level two...no difference noticeable

Congratulations!! Have fun figuring everything out.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the active ventilated seats (the cooling portion, not the heat) once you've had a chance to check them out.

Finally!!! Have a good time with it.

Mallard- I drove an E500 on an extended test drive here in Phoenix a few months ago when the temps were in the low 90's. I ran the ventilation on the seats during the 40 Minutes I drove the car and though I could not really "feel" the air moving, the proof was clear in that i had no dampness in the small of my back or the seat of my pants from perspiration, a regular occurence in my other leather clad cars even with the AC running full tilt.

As you may have seen in one of my other posts, I sat in an S Class to see how the AVS seats work and could not "feel" the air either. But if they really do keep you cool and dry, isn't that the point of them? Thanks.

Mallard: 99ML430 is right. They are really great in the hot weather we have year round here in So. FL. I do feel the air when I am wearing lightweight wool slacks. I do not feel it with cotton slacks. But, the function is really nice to keep you dry. Another interesting feature: when you open all the windows from outside the car with your remote key, the driver's side ventilation automatically starts on the high (three light) setting, just as it does on our SL500 when we open the top from outside. Fun!!!

How do you open the windows with the remote?

I think the Active Ventilated seats are a blast - they don't blow air, they suck it in and blow it out the vents in the back of the seat. You definitely feel the difference, and even level 1 is noticeable. Nice feature - will be fantastic for long trips.

I'm nearly positive the DD seats are defective, as they are inflating at all the right times, but in the lumbar area rather than the side bolsters...

schvetkaaks: The windows and sunroof will automatically open if you press the button on your remote key to unlock the doors and just keep it pressed for a few seconds (not pressing it several times) until the windows go down, the sunroof opens and, if you have the active ventilated seats, the cooling function comes on full strength. To reverse, you can press the button on your remote key to lock the doors and keep it pressed until the windows go down, the sunroof closes and the ventilated seats shut off. You need to aim it at the driver's door and not interrupt the beam between the key and the door by letting up too soon on the button or by someone or something coming between your key and the door. Have fun!!!

Pics of what? The seats themselves? The windows all rolling down? The lovely Florida weather JHB was talking about? The thing on the door handle at which you need to point the key?

What?

I'm confused

Very cool!! I tried it (quite a few times, just for good measure), and I expect that to be quite helpful in the summer heat, particularly with the AV seats kicking in! (No sunroof, though, as I don't need a little square of sky to look through when I can just jump in the Boxster S for the entire sky!!)

I think that Paul Le Corre (from France) would like to see some pictures of schvetkaaks new car. Hopefully he will get the pictures posted soon.
