None of my previous (or current) Benz' changed time automatically. Kinda silly if you think about. If you have satellite radio you could synchronize the clock with one the birds up in the sky. Hopefully this minor thing will be changed in future models.

I have W210, it changed time a week ahead, because a day of switching to winter time was changed since time of production the car. I guess that MB didn't want to deal with possible changes of switching day in future, so decided to make it by a driver. However I expect some solution based on automatic software updates. Actually there are many time sources are available as navigation, radio, cell phone.

COMAND is a great source of time and is always accurate due to GPS. It only knows UTC time though. The complicated part that the car does not know is the correct offset for UTC. This would constantly change as the current US laws have been deemed temporary so there is a good chance it will return to the old schedule. And it would also depend on what state you are in, etc.
