Oil level - visit workshop message help

Ok, did a search for all previous post but didn't come across my exact situation.

So yesterday i head out and 20 seconds into my trip i get a "oil level- visit workshop message" in death RED.

I'm thinking ok got my routine service a few weeks back and thinking maybe i had a slow drain from the mechanic not tightening things.

I got in my other car and went to get 2 quarts of oil. i filled the car up and did the reading via FSS.

So the car has been off for a few hours and i'm hoping that the 2 quart will clear the message. well it doesn't and when the FSS is checking the oil it states "observe waiting time" and never completes the reading.

so then i'm thinking that ok maybe it means that oil is critically low so i went back out and bought another 4 quarts and filled it up.

Im thinking this is crazy i know that our cars usually get ~6 quarts for oil change but to be this low? doesn't make sense.

as i am filling up i am consious to see if i can see any visible oil flowing back out from the top as i'm pouring it in ...nope none.

Just checked this morning and still the same message with the "observe waiting time".

No what? if the sensor is just bad i might have ~12 quarts of oil in the car? How do i know how much oil is in the car without a dipstick?

Do i risk driving the car to the stealer in this condition?

thoughts besides that i'm f$cked?

thanks

You're f$cked? because your car is now severely overfilled with motor oil.

Do not start engine in this condition.

Your engine BTW requires 8.5 quarts. 6 quarts is Chevy territory.

"Observe waiting time" means just that--the system can't give you an accurate reading unless the motor has been off for an hour or so. If it has been, then there's a malfunction.

Reading the car manual would help too.

As above, don't start the car before the excess oil has been removed.

Check to see if the connection to the sensor was loosened or knocked off during the last oil change. Drain it and fill it properly to you know you have the correct fill.

Its syn only. Since you think it only hold 6 qts you might be under the mistaken belief you can also use dino oil.

How long did you wait on the "observe waiting time" light? I have had cars take 2 or 3 minutes and others took twenty. It depends on the condition. Do not start the car with that much oil in it.

+1, I hope you bought the correct oil, otherwise you need another change.
