Please stay away from Falkens - I had the ZR512's on my VW, rated 50K but got about 15K-20K max out of them. Wear too quickly - could have had Micheleins that lasted 2.5X for what I saved.

Ok, I can understand you reasoning now.

Here is a suggestion:

1. Check with discount tire. They usually have better prices than even Tirerack, and their hazard warranty will replace your tire, not give you a prorate. Big savings and difference, you will get a new tire not a credit toward a new one.

2. Try the Vred's, but get on discount tires site and put in the size tires you need. You will get a huge selection of different brands, which will have reviews and full specs. From there you can pick a cheaper tire, which will be safer than the Nankangs.

IMO, those Nankang's are not a good choice. Also, be sure to be mindful of weather conditions where you are. Don't get a summer tire for cold climate, just a suggestion.

If you go to Discount Tire ask for their tire insurance. I got that insurance 8 years ago. It cost me 16.95 back then and is a life long insurance. Not bound to a car but rather to a person. That means you carry that insurance over to all your cars. What does it do? You will get 4 new tires for the price of 12.95 plus tax. You read right. 12.95 plus tax. That's at least what I pay everytime I go there. If you have a nail in one of the tires lets say, you go there, they replace the tire with a new one for free. Even labor is included in your "free"! I couldn't believe it as I went there once with a bad tire and the guy told me I'm all set and can leave. I asked him if I don't have to pay anything and he said no you got the insurance. I didn't even know what I did 8 years ago and forgot about it. That sales person did a good job I guess selling me something I didn't even know that I had it.

Insurance is cool but the fine print states only if there is even wear accross the tire...So those peeps with lowered cars might as well save the cash

Don't skimp on tires. You are skimping on safety and possibly handling.

Michelin charges a premium. I can see how some people want to buy other tires. Goodyear also charges a premium but a little less. Yokohama and Dunlop models can be just as good depending on the model and are less. Continental, Bridgestone and Pirelli charge the standard rate, in my opinion.

If you want Chinese tires, get Federal, which are made in Taiwan (which mainland China claims as theirs). Federal is a discount brand that is not so dangerous.

I'd also strongly consider dedicated snow tires, even in areas of little snow. All season tires are not as good. The BMW owner's manual even says that all season tires do not give as good winter traction and owner's should consider winter tires. In any case, don't use summer, non-all season tires under about 38 degrees F.

Damn, what an ignorant statement!
...."black muslim president"??? Is that really why you think people are looking for cheap tires, LOL??! WOW

You think the economy is bad because of him, not even in the office for a week??? WOW! You actually think he could do ANY worse that his predecessor.....LOL.

I wonder why some people think that Mercedes Benz owners have to claim some sort of elitism by NOT buying anything cheap.

If you were shooting for "funny" with your comment........."HA!"

How about we take this offline so the decent folks on this forum don't have to read the garbage that comes out of your mouth.

This guy reminds me of an old ASSociate of mine... Driving around in a MB with less than a qtr tank of gas. He also bragged about his big screen TV, but lived in a trailor. (not to be offensive to people who live in trailors) But I find humor in this... Whatever floats your boat, just remember you get what you pay for when quality is a concern...

Now you just need to lose the "Kick his *** - SeaBass attitude" when people are trying to give you advice.

i already got my tires but just an update..nexen nankangs and vresteins all ran about the same price for 275/30/20s...around 160..plus tax and mounting was 180..Called a couple shops here in south orange county..obviously prices will change up or down as sizes change..havent had any experience with these tires but on the forums they all get pretty good reviews..tire shops have different opinions but im guessing there opinions are based on cost prices for them and which is making them more cash..

Michelins tend to be overpriced. For the same amount, you can get better tires from other well known brands.

I tend to choose from Yokohama, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Continental, Pirelli, and Goodyear. All of these and Michelin make some mediocre tires and some good ones. BF Goodrichs are sometimes good too. You don't have to sink to Nankangs to save a little money.

For now tires, the Michelin X-Ice Xi2 is supposed to be good but my experience is with Nokian Hakkapeliittas and Bridgestone Blizzaks. The Xi2 is an improvement over the old X-Ice.
