Scraping sounds when i go over bumps-2005 E500 4MATIC Wagon
Hi there ,
I have a 2005 E500 Wagon and just recently i started hearing a scraping noise when i go over small bumps on the road. It sounds like a piece of plastic or metal rubbing on the road. There's really nothing hanging below the car other then two plastic pieces below the front fender ( tinny mud flaps, not really sure what they are called).
If thats whats hitting the ground , isn't that to much of a drop? Does this mean the suspension is not containing the pressure like it should?
Has anyone ever experience this or know what this could be ?- Thanks

Perhaps stabilizer links?
Just had mine replaced. In my case sounded more like a rumble, than a scrap. But when I was shown the problem (while getting my state inspect) the bar was going up and down. The guy hit it with the heel of his hand, while it was up on the air, and I could see the bar go up and rebound back down.
Good luck!

Links are $220 for the pair
Sorry for the late reply, been off board for a while.
If I recall the stabilizer links were $220 + labour. However, I needed a new spindle and axle. I guess there was damage, causing an oil leak from the axle, because the old stabilizer link was not doing it's job for a while. A leak from the outer part of the axle would have costed just a repair kit. But in my case it was from the inner part of the axle, so whole new everything. :o(
