Extended warranty coverage - interior trim?
We recently noticed a hairline crack on the inner wood trim around the shifter...is this something that would be covered by MB's extended warranty? There is no indication of an impact, so it appears to have cracked on its own. Car currently has 93k miles and has the extended warranty up to 100k.
I wouldn't normally be worried about finding a replacement piece, but the wood is "designo poplar" and therefore impossible to find used and likely very expensive new. Our "designo poplar" steering wheel had to be replaced a couple years ago due to a botched airbag sensor repair (dealer stripped the splines) and it cost the dealer around $2k for the wheel itself.

Took my E320 into service and there was a bubble that formed on the armrest. S/A said he couldn't cover it. I especially like how CPO doesn't cover "leaking hoses", which can be a huge problem with leaks getting into the transmission and costing you a whole new transmission.

I had a similar experience with a 2000 E320 and MB replaced the cracked piece with no questions asked.

Ya it's the radiator line ones that cause a problem. They are known to leak into the transmission on these cars, especially the 03's and some 04's. I don't know about the 05's, and I think the 06's are in the clear.

somethings better left unsaid ...
what's a hairline crack .. ?
it's the little things that upset you about expensive stuff ... if I'm gonna buy an expensively wood trimmed car, I don't want my wood cracked, so if it's a temperature (or humidity) thing, they should warn people in certain areas and if they don't they should cover it
does any of you guys have a photo of those cracks ?
