Robb Report

Did you guys see the latest Robb Report?

It rated the best cars of 2003.

Number one was the SL 55 AMG with 498 HP!!!
2. Land Rover Range Rover
3. Bentley Arnage T (I didn't know they did 0-60 in 5.5 !!!)
4. Ferrari 575M Maranello
Number five was the E500 (woo-hoooo).
6. Jaguar XKR
7. Dodge Viper SRT-10
8. Mini-Cooper S (Don't ask)
9. Hummer H2

We were even favorably compared in the same breath with the new Ferrari 575M.

A quote includes:

"With the E500 you have to invest some energy finding anything that warrants a gripe:The rear cabin feels a tad tighter than the previous E class, thanks largely to the elegant new look and the multilayer audio and telephone controls, arrayed around a handsome LCD display screen, will require even more effort to master."

LOL, EDJ why the comment "don't ask" on the Mini Cooper S? :p

Noticed more people (young and old) looking at the Mini compared to the SLK32.

Drove to the MB Broadway dealership today and there were more customers looking at my Mini than MBs in the showroom. I bet the salesmen were peeved!

No harm meant...

I just meant it was weird to compare a 12,000 car when we're talking about cars in the (low end) 55K to (high) 250K!

No disrespect meant, to either you or your car,

Oh-one more thing about the E that they noticed. They mentioned that one of the guys found it so counter-intuitive to figure out the tiny radio buttons, he gave up trying to get an FM station, lol!

Too bad they didn't slam the cup holders <GRIN>

Any chance you can post the article specifically on the E500, Joe?

Not all of us subscribe to the Robb Report, Mr. High-Falootin'...

Geez

Geez bro, break down and go without your latte' for a day. The rag only runs about 5 bucks, lol!

Just kidding.

I can do it tonight or tomorrow. I'm at work right now, and didn't bring it with me.

It'd be a pretty long post though, because to do it justice and give due credit to author and those quoted I'd have to post it verbatim. Both the E-500 section of the rankings, and the intro wherein they introduce not only the field of vehicles tested, but those responsible for the "objective" test.

But if you express an interest, and I can pop open a beer or glass of vino, I'd be happy to sit down and pound it out on Saturday.

Lemee know.....

Just jokin' with ya - when I did a search for the article, I discovered that the 'average yearly salary' for Robb Report readers is $800,000, and the average net worth is $5.7million. SHEESH!!

Hmmm, there must have been some lower paid people in the survey to bring Joe's average down so low.
