Makes sense that Mercedes would do another evolution of the front end like how they did when they went from the W210 to the W211. I think it looks really good in the Avantgarde version with the LED strips as the fogs. The interior looks a LOT like the W221 too and it seems rather logical that they finally are eliminating the center gearshift as everyone uses paddles now.

Anyone else notice how they renamed the E550 to the E500?

That is only for the rest of the world, new one will be 550 in the US. The current day 550 engine is referred to as 500 in Europe.

I must say that my opinion is speculation at best until I am able to see it in person, but so far I am not impressed...

Lack-luster glamour show..

If this is Mercedes' answer to declining sales and marketplace that is more competitive than ever, I think they are in for a big surprise.

The design cues that have changed on most of the cars recently are questionable at best, and this is coming from someone who will argue to his death for the brand...what a crappy way to start the new year.

Will be interesting to see if they have to subsidize the model within 6 months of launch...That will the true indicator

I can't wait to see how bad the sh*t show is in Chicago in terms of discounting on base models, because it frankly just looks horrible.

I need to get in an 09 before the pretty ones disappear.. This might be motivation for the market on remaining E's to pick up...

Just a thought.

The complete brochure and price list are already available at the dutch site, valid from Jan 12. Apparently the car is already available for purchase, but probably not immediate delivery.

According to the price list, E250CGI will only become available in September. Also, E220CDI is only available with Auto trans before September.

RE: W212
While it was certaining interesting to see the Dutch catalogue, I am 1st gen of Dutch immigrant parents and was raised with the language, I couldn't have said it better: "be patient till you see the vehicle in person".

I look forward to seeing the car in person, and will withhold further judgement until then.
