TPMS

Can the TPMS be activated on an 05 E500----I am looking to use the "cheap" version that only monitors wheel speed (no sensors)----??????

Looking at SDS it appears that it can, but I don't have one to try it on since mine shows the actual pressures.

Where in SDS is it----Control units---?----adaptations---....

I assume my cluster does not have the "!" indicator for tire----It will just show the check pressures and "tire defective" light in white or red on center IC display?

No. It calculates the pressure based on the delta of the rotation of the tires and if there is a sudden change.

I believe it takes wheel speed variance between both sides----if both tires are low the light will not idicate-----if you pick up a nail and one tire goes low it should display?

Red face Passive to active

I got my W219 with regular TPMS... wonder if SDS can turn it into an "active" TPMS (where I can see individual # on all 4 tires) without any hardware added...

The system that tells you the actual pressure has sensor mounted next to each tire on the car to receive a radio signal from the pressure sensor located in the rim. There is no way for the car to determine the pressure without this hardware. It can only monitor if there is a significant change in pressure by the rotating speed of the tire and give you a generic low tire warning.

SDS will only set programs / change settings

You will need a Wire harness/sensors x4/control unit and a LOT of labor to have Active TPMs

It can be done but its not a cheap mod

Some dealers are willing to activate it using their computers to alter the programing of the cars computer, as these cars are programmed differently for different countries and different model years.

I set "tire loss warner" as PRESENT in CGW. I know have the "re-activate tire monitor" option in the cluster-----I will try to verify it works later....
