I saw a slightly camouflaged E today and thinking in perspective of the C class, it looks like a natural evolution. Keeping that in mind, it's not too bad looking. Photos certainly don't do it justice, but the back lights I've yet to have an opinion on as that was what was camouflaged the most. However I must say, IMO I don't like the styling direction they're going to. In my eyes the W211 looks better. It's just that the W212 "looks" newer now.
Unfortunately I took a really blurry pic too late, we were exiting slowly and the E was accelerating onto the freeway. Damm iphone camera.

It's official: http://www.motorauthority.com/merced...w-e-class.html
I started to like the new E-Class mainly for the interior and technology but I hope the highest improvement is in quality and reliability.

I was thinking about upgrading to a W212 someday (whenever my W203 had finally had enough), but now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Talk about a step back from a styling perspective. It's much too angular and well...boring. Honestly, if I hadn't seen the front end, I could have mistaken it for an Acura. The new design has just lost SO much of its distinctiveness Mercedesness. What a disappointment.
Oh well, at least the W211 is still such a classic, elegant (but potentially sporty) design. I guess I'll just have to hunt for a really low mileage 2009 in a couple of years.

Some wallpaper for ya.
I'm glad to see the interior turned out to be one of the most beautiful MB's in recent years. For all those that were complaining when they looked at test mule photos...how you like them apples? Funny how people see spy shots in magazines that are clearly artist renderings, or photos of test mules and will run them down. Its always best to wait for the final product to pass judgment, specially when it comes to Benz, they always have a way of surprising you at the very last moment when it comes to the new models.
I love the interior, love the front, but not too sure of the back, screams a bit too much Hyundai and not enough MB and that's not good in a $50k car. Did I mention I love that interior, hope the wood/leather choices make it to the U.S. spec cars, looks so good.
