Is it only me, front bumper is too low

I have MY09 with sport package. It seems too low, it is challenge to do not scratch bottom of bumper steep driveways, parking dividers and so on. I had a similar problem with Z4, however that car sat much lower, I even had problems on bumps.

It's not just you, I have the same car and have similar problems. I have been pretty good about ones I can control (like with those parking lot things.) But with certain driveways and things like that, I only find out until it is too late.

I wonder how people w/ Ferrari's, Lambo's and lowered W211's deal with it? Heck, people even put a front lip spoiler which adds another 1" or more to the bottom of the bumper.

I have an 08 E550 w/ the AMG Sports Package and it takes work but it can be done if you think far enough ahead. I know my local area well enough that when I am going to the bank, about 0.5 mi out I hit the button to raise the car and enter very slowly and at an angle.

I'd love to get advice from those that deal with this with even lower cars.

Take everything at an angle and slooooow down my friend. I have a 4" clearance on the front of my C230 w/Euroteck CF Lip, so I use up both sides of a driveway (if no one's there) to make sure I get minimal scraping.

One of the nice perks of airmatic is the ability to raise the front end on demand... again of the best features of the W211. Finally a factory equipped feature that takes the pain of driving a lowered car!

Dema,

I also have MY09 with sport package. Yes, the front bumper lip is far too low, and it sticks out too far as well. I doubt it will clear most common parking lot stop-blocks. My wife and I continue to point this out to each other and comment on it to reinforce the idea. Nevertheless, I'm resigned that I will have to pay for at least one repair on this before my lease is up. If it does get damaged, but not unsightly, I'll probably just leave it until lease end so I pay for repairs only once.

?? its not even that low stock. i know the AMG package is lower in the front because it has a little dip at the beak, but the sport package?! not low at all

i have the sport lowered with a BRABUS lip and to me, i'm still not low enough! not one single scratch on my lip.

Maybe it depends on what kinda cars you had owned in the past. If you were previously used to driving a lowered car, the E class is plenty high.

I have a CF front lip and the car is lowered, never touchs the ground----and I leave ample room between the car and a parking block.

You guys obviously haven't driven lowered cars.

I used to have a Mustang GT lowered to the floor with a body kit (really low front air damn), speed bumps, parking curb-stoppers, etc. would scrape if I wasn't careful.

I haven't had much problem with the AMG bumper on my car, just go up or down sideways on steep decline/incline parking lots, etc. and when you park, don't go all the way until your wheel touches the parking-stopper thingy, just in case it may scrape. But yeah, the 211 even with Sport Suspension and AMG package is plenty high for me.

2nd day driving my09 E350 w/ amg pkg. no idea it was so low... scuffed a bit not viewable unless your crawl under the car. Staying clear of all parking blocks... have to remind the wife as well... or have her stick to driving the GL450 all time.. she run over the blocks all she wants..

Ya, I use that feature on my uncle's driveway. The ABC is even better, it has 2 raising features and can raise the car even higher.

E550 2009 Parked head in at work there was no sound of hitting the curb. Pull out there was scrapping sound. Checked the bumper everything looked okay. A couple of days later notice the right bumper was separated from the right fender.

The local dealer repaired two hours of labor and parts four fastners.

I'm ok with parking in parking spaces w/ cement blocks. I'm careful enough not to hit that. Its going up and down driveways and what not that you do have to be really really careful around.

I still plan to lower my car probably using SDS since I'm only looking for about 1"
