I recently purchased a 2005 E320. I am very new to this vehicle and to its features. Unfortunatey my car didn't come with a navigation cd/dvd. Can you please suggest which disk I should be looking for. I understand that I might be able to purchase an updated version, so if appropriate please suggest the correct upgrade.

Thanks

Navigation DVD
First thing you need to do is make sure you have the navigation system installed in you car!!!! All cars come with the NAV button on the COMAND unit, but the DVD drive has to be installed in the trunk. Look on the left hand side trunk panel. If there is a trap door on the panel the DVD drive should be inside.
If it's there you can buy the DVD from the dealer $200 +/-. or send me a private message and I will put you in touch with a member for less $. Your choice.

Thanks.

The vehicle does have the actual Navigation Unit in the trunk. I am also aware that the dealer will have the disk I am looking for. What I'm trying to find out is, Apart from the disk that would have come with the car in 2005, what other (updated) options do I have? And if there are no updated options, where can I find an inexpensive disk.

Basically I dont want to buy the wrong disk on ebay or from someone on the forum.

Thanks Again

I also have an 05 E320. The Disk that I have is part no BQ 6 46 0216. It is about a 2006 version. I bought a NAV kit on Ebay and installed it. If all you need is road/street information, an older disk will probably work fine, if you are willing to put up with some possible new roads not being on the map. If you are wanting Points of interest info such as resturants, gas stations, banks & hospitals, you will probably want to go to a dealer and get a current disk.

Go to www.navteq.com and order it from there - probably cheaper than the dealer.

Depending on your firmware version in your navigation processor, you may have to use an update CD to update the software version in the nav processor to support the updated map DVD. This disc can be bought for around $15 from the dealer.

Update the COMAND head unit software increasing reliability. In addition, it adds ETA and phone signal strength to the display and navigation voice mutes with MUTE button. Service disc W211589142200 installs in single disc drive to head unit.

Purchase current navigation database DVD BQ6460243 (installs in navigation drive in trunk). Importantly, if you decide to go with an earlier version do not consider BQ6460229 because of routing errors.

If the navigation DVD is not recognized and/or fails to load properly, you will need to update the processor firmware. Service disc W211589152200 installs in navigation drive in trunk.

PM your email address and I will forward bulletins for DIY installation. Include your VIN if you want a MB datacard listing equipment, codes, initial delivery date, etc.

Hi,

I have a e320 4matic 2004 that I need the CD in order for my GPS to work. I don't want to pay $250+ at dealer and was wondering if you can offer any advise as far as where I would be able to get an up to date CD cheaper than 250+.

Thanks

You both do realize that this thread is 4 years old, right!?

Gazi, what you're looking for is the service cd, quoted in your post. About $12.00 at the dealer.
