Introducing myself - Some questions inside.

Hello. I am a long time Rennlist, 6speed, AudiWorld and CaymanClub member who has just joined MBWorld! Currently, I have an 06 Cayman S but I want to get a better DD and relegate the Cayman to weekend duties. I have always been an Audi guy (have had MB's in the fam), but after looking for some time now, I feel an E500 might be the way to go.

Because the market is so soft, the 05 and 06 seem to be a pretty damn good bargain. I will be graduating this year and feel this would be the perfect time to pick one up. Is there anything I should be weary of? Im looking for one with less than 30K miles. From what I have read, they seem pretty solid - any issues I should be aware of and make sure I ask sellers?

Thanks in advance for your advice. Now, for the mandatory pix of my current ride and some others in the family (my dad, brother and myself have a racing team and also collect toys):

And I just picked this up for my mom yesterday:

Given your collection I take it you want a spirited ride .. the E500 is the way to go (unless you step up to the AMG models).

By '06 they had worked out many of the kinks on the 211 models. It also is the last year for the 113 engine with 3 valves .. by '07 they went to 4 valves. The engine itself had been around for a while so it a well tuned performer.

For the money you can't beat the deals on the '05 and '06 E500's .. you'll pay a few grand more for lower mileage but it will have more warranty left and gives you time to get any 'defects' worked out under warranty.

If you want .. we can swap the porshe for my E500 for a day!

E's in general are solid cars...nothing too huge to be weary of.

You can get a hell of a car for the money...

You should consider an 05-06 E55 AMG instead. You can pick one up for peanuts now and the rush of adrenaline you'll get from 516lb-ft of torque will be nothing short of intoxicating.

Nice garage, BTW.

Thanks guys. In my search I have seen some sweet E55's! If I happen across the right one for the right price, I might just jump on it. Hoping to have something by early/mid summer.
