EURO comand AM radio spacing

The Euro W211 COMAND AM radio spacing is 9kHz as customary in Europe. If you switch the COMAND to USA mode will the spacing become 10kHz or stay at 9kHz because perhaps of tuner differences?

I'd like to retrofit COMAND but would prefer not to lose any AM reception capability and do not need DVD Video although would like to play MP3 DVDs in the head unit. So I could buy a EURO comand and switch it to USA mode if that restores the AM radio spacing. Thanks.

The tuner spacing is coded in the AGW- not the COMAND. If you install a Euro in US (or ECE) mode it will do what you wish, or you could find a 2003-2005 US COMAND with a DVD drive (but no DVD video) for less money.

In ECE mode you will gain DVD Video playback and broken RDS (no traffic info), but lose phonebook downloads from the factory telephone system and lose SAT radio if you have it as well as WeatherBand. In US mode, it's exactly like a US COMAND with SAT radio (no DVD Video) and WeatherBand but has a slightly different software version (but zero noticeable changes in US mode compared to genuine US COMAND).
