Welcome to the board tchu.

First things first you have airmatic (air suspension) so springs are out of the question. Do a quick search on lowering methods with airmatic, i.e. washer method, drop links, RENNTECH module, STAR...

Also, try the search button on the menu above... there's a wealth of information available on this site but you'll have to look for it.

The car can be lowered at the dealer IF

1 The dealer will do it..Several dealers will NOT do it

2 The Tech knows how to lower the ride height via The SDS aka Star

When you lower it, you will throw off the camber in the back, and it is not adjustable. Make sure you take into account you will need to spend at least 500 to 700 for a rear camber kit, otherwise you will be replacing rear tires every 5-7000 miles.

There's a guy selling a RENNtech lowering module in the classifieds right now. I suggest getting one of those.

Great point, every dealer in Vancouver was NOT willing to lower my car via SDS/Star...

AND, you will need to get an allignment as well.

Does that apply even if you lower using STAR/SDS? I assumed it wouldn't be required because STAR only lowers the car to the height it drives at at freeway speeds?

Yes, regardless of the method you use, you are changing the default geometry and need to compensate for that. Since there is no factory adjustment for rear camber, that is where the camber kit comes in. Believe me, I have been through several sets of tires, I finally gave up and did the kit, now, no problems.

EDIT: Reading the post again, it will depend HOW MUCH lowering you do. If it is only .5 inch, I dont think you will need it, but then again, I dont think 1/2 inch is what you are looking for and that is what I was assuming on my response. Just wanted to be clear.

Well, I thought the SDS will only go as low as what it is at when the car is over 60mph or whatever the speed is?

I plan to only lower via SDS and I don't think you can lower it more than what the car is at, at highway/freeway speeds.

So I should be ok because the car is naturally at that level on the freeway?

Thank you, sir. Lots of time and lots of money.

I wanna say that if the dealer does it, you won't need the camber kit. Reason being is that when they do their "ride height adjustment", as they call it, they keep it with MB's tolerances. I can't imagine they would put it low enough to cause problems with the car, since they have to warranty it.

This is just a guess.

I have lowered many E Classes. Links are the most affordable way to do it and the vehicle can be returned back to stock without any detection of being modified. Have heard of many cases where a vehicle has been lowered with Star but after a while it raises itself back up. Check out some pics in my gallery to get an idea.

PS I'm also located in Vancouver.
