Thinking of buying a '07 E550
Are there any issues I should be aware of? I'm looking through the threads and didn't really find a good list of what to look for when I go to test drive it.

G/L finding one. They are quite rare out here in LA. Many 350's & even 63's, but only seen a handful of 550's. Wonderful car though, excellent balance of luxury and power. 63 is not even worth it IMO with the power of a 550.

I'm very impressed. I am having a hard time finding anything bad about this car. The complaints I'm finding are very one off kind of complaints (1 guy with a bad tranny - another complaining about brake squeal). And nobody here chiming in anything negative is a big plus as well.

Totally agree with other posts. OUTSTANDING CAR! Found a 2007 E550 4Matic at www.autotrader.com.
I'm in the SF Bay Area and ended up finding the one I wanted in Dallas, TX. Had a wonderful time driving it home. CPO with 11K miles on it in June 2008.
At the time I was looking there were almost 100 2007 E550's available nationwide. I found only two of them with an ash interior! The vast majority of 2007s have charcoal interiors.

Love my '07 E550. No complaints. They are hard to find used for a reason. People don't want to part with them. I know a couple associates that traded in their CLS 500 and CLS 550's for the E550.

I know my old 500 aint no 550 but it's the best I could find - and I agree the sport pkg is worth looking for - true they are hard to find but worth it -
If you can hold your breathe and suffer through buying a low mileage 500 you can probably find one and save 10 or more thousand in the process - that buys a lot of grief.

Not to take away from the sport package .. (I don't have one and if I had both side by side now I'd probably lean to the sport package) but if memory serves the only difference was the 'amg' rims, exhaust tips and slightly different bumper .. was there something else?

Not quite the same, but the same engine, chassis, and options on the '07 CLS550, have you considered that? I've seen some with low miles for low $40k range. ...I realize the CLS is a "love it or hate it" style, but I happen to love it.

2007 E550 4-Matic
Chip is a friend of mine (and introduced me to this site)....he was nice enough to ask some questions here for me which resulted in me being the proud owner of a CPO 2007 E550 4-Matic, P2, Sport Package. You're all correct in that it was a hard car to find! Had to go down to Arlington, VA to find the one I wanted (I'm up in CT). But it was worth it...love the car, amazing power, beautiful, refined....simply awesome.

I'm glad it worked out for you FT. After reading all the reviews and comments I got the bug myself to do the upgrade, I just can't convince my better half to let go of the W210 just yet.

Just got my 2007 E550. I am glad that I did the search for the V8. I got the silver with black interior, RWD, sports package. It is stealthy as people think it is an old persons E-sedan (Williamsburg, VA). I do have to use the cruise control a lot to stay out of trouble! It also gets much better cas mileage than my ML320 so that is an added bonus.

wait till you do some long freeway only trips .. the gas mileage is amazing ... I can easily hit 25mpg and if I try I can do 27-28. LOVE MY 08 E550.

P2 has all of P1 stuff plus BiXenon headlamps with cornering fog lamps and keylessgo. The former doesn't really help anymore since before (03 - 06) it was easy to tell if the car had BiXenon since it would have washers, but the washers now (07 - 09) come on with sport package as well.
