E500 4matic tire size! *PICS*!@!
hey all, i just bought a set of 18's and would like to know if i can run wider tires on the back. my car is 2004 e500 4matic, and the rims offset is 38, and 8.5 inches wide on all 4 rims.
i currently have 245-40-18 on all 4, but the tires are currently a bit stretched. i would like to know if i can run 275-35-18s on the back on my 4matic.
any info would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Dont quote me on this because I once started a thread on it but I don't think you want to run a smaller sidewall on your rear tire if you aren't running a staggered offest wheel ie. 9.5 or something in the rear. I'm sure someone will chime in or do a search for a thread I started about staggered wheels and 4matics there is alot of good info there. GL

i was checking the http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
to see how much difference in rolling diameter would be, and found out it is only 0.4% difference which can also be affected by tread wear. so i was thinking that i would have no problem running 275-35-18 on the back since the rolling diameter is same.
please correct me if im wrong.
Thanks for the reply.
