E500 4 matic
#2
I have one on order and the MB computer system just started allowing orders to be entered last week. Latest estimate is Sept/Oct delivery with the rest of the '04 line. No info yet on performance, although I have heard that the colors may be more limited. When entering my order dealer told me that only colors that showed up as options for 4Matic were Black, Black Opal, Silver, Pewter, and one other I can't recall. I have my eyes on Tectite, so hopefully this info is wrong.

The 4Matic Eclass
Where did you find out about the production of the 4matic Eclass? Please let me know, I want to make sure of the time the 4matic will reach the market. I live in the US, so, when will it go on sale here?
Let me know,
Thanks,
Dave

4Matic still slated for fall
I couldn't find the DCTV clip you referred to, but this quote is on the MB worldwide web site and still shows fall delivery as of today:
Mercedes-Benz Launches Four-Wheel Drive Offensive for Five Series
Stuttgart, 01/27/2003
Mercedes-Benz now has 27 models on the rapidly growing world market for four-wheel drive vehicles. As a result of the brand's widely acclaimed 4MATIC offensive, its new car registration figures for four-wheel drive and off-road vehicles are among the highest in the industry. Beginning in fall 2003, Mercedes will expand its extensive range of attractive four-wheel drive vehicles by offering three additional 4MATIC sedans and two station wagon models of the new E-Class. The brand will then have 32 four-wheel drive models in five series.

sl and M-class E320 4Matic SLK350
Diesel with 4-Matic less likely?
Three additional sedans, 500E, new 350E, and???? One of the Diesel variants or the 240E? As to the two wagons, just the 500TE and new 350TE? Will there even be a diesel TD in 2004?
Isn't it more likely that the 240E will get 4-Matic over any of the Diesel E's if there are only to be 3 additional 4-Matics. Also interesting that the 4-Matic E is being built in Graz.
What sedans or wagons are being built there now?

2004 E 4matic StationWagon
Wagons
GermanCarFans.com reports that the wagon (at least in the UK where GCF is based) will be available with 4matic only in the 240 and 320. What happened to the diesel? the 350?
