MB Bluetec, 2009
E320, 2009, BlueTec

I have new E320, 2009, BlueTec diesel. Excellent car, diesel engine is quiet, high mpg, etc. Looking for for performance upgrades, i.e. air intake, exhaust, suspension, tuner/programmer. Any after market companies specialize in performance upgrades for MB diesels?

Kleeman KD-Box, Bully makes a box, and the Brabus D6 box for the Bluetec are three off the top of my head. Many users including myself have had great luck with the Kleeman KD-Box -- 2 mpg increase, torque increase, and HP increase. Makes the car drive like it doesn't have a cold...

Good info. I see you have the Bluetec. After doing your research, why might I ask that you decided on the Kleeman? Did you notice a big change in the demeanor of the vehicle and how big of a grin did it put on your face compared to stock vehicle?

I've got an 05 cdi and am very interested in doing same. Looking for info and opinions. Thanks!!!

A number of factors with the Kleemann product made it an easy decision.

1. My dealer sold it to me (so if there were warranty issues I was in the clear). MB-USA stated that any issue linked to the BullyBox would NOT be covered. Their website claims it won't void the warranty, but MBUSA says it will void the warranty on the parts affected by the Bullybox. The Brabus was more money.

2. Installation was plug in play -- the dealer did it in less than an hour, and I had gotten great evaluations of product from others.

3. A lot of members here have it, and reported it was a great product.

All in all quite happy.

Phil

i have read Kleemann doesnt make the KD BOX for the 2009 E320 bluetec, reason being something to do with the injectors. is this true?

You should directly call Cory at Kleeman USA to verify this.

All the 'merikun iron hot rod techniques you suggest are irrelevant to Mercedes.

This is already a DIESEL engine that makes more than one horsepower per cubic inch.

There aren't any backyard mechanics that can do better.

Kleemann at least have some engineering/electronics knowledge, but you DON'T need "exhaust and air intake."

That is an absolute shame I am definitely not going for the 2010 or 2011 Bluetec model whenever it comes out. I'll keep my 07 rocket ship.

Even the Brabus D6 tuner is designed for the 07/08 version. You will have to lookout for a new chip or mod for the 09.

Not true ! The 2009 MB SUV diesels have the adBlue urea injection system. The 2009 E320 Bluetec most definitely does NOT have urea injection !
This system, together with run flat tires, will be added to the 2010 E350 Bluetec which will appear in March, 2010.

i went to my dealer today and had their service tech look at my car. he told me their is no urea injection in my car and it does not use ADBLUE. so i can get the kd box after all. my car has 1200 km on it so how long should i wait before installing it and will i damage the engine if i install it with very little milage on the car?

i spoke to Brandon Grantham from Kleemann USA and he said they install them on cars with 20 miles so it shouldnt matter how many miles you have.

The Kleemann box is very simple. All it does is spoof the fuel pressure sender. It's not a complicated device like some that change mapping, shift points, boost pressures and so on.

Their margin has got to be about 90% but who cares?

No UREA tank of the 2009 E320

Another verification: My 2009 E320 DOES NOT have the Urea tank - Yes it has a 'real' spare tire - Hope this ends a lot of guessing !
