Yes, the aux battery will be charged at the same time, thanks to the VCU (voltage control unit)

Yes, leave the trunk open for ventilation, even though it's a sealed battery, a good safety precaution.
The trunk lights turn off automatically after 5 min, so not a concern.

Thanks SPNJ! Great thread.... I had forgotten that the manual mentioned holding down the recirc button to close everything then being able to open the windows again! I should have taken notes while I read the manual....I need a cheat sheet to operate my car! lol...

I'm totally giddy over this car! We are like high school kids! lol... Yesterday I washed and waxed her but I have to say... body doesn't react like it's in high school anymore....ugh...my arms, my back....sucks to get old.... time to invest in a power buffer I think...

On another note.... I just noticed yesterday my E550 has drilled rotors! That is so cool.....lol.. was that an option?

2. Is there way to stop headrest from going up when you move the seat backward?
It can be version coded to not do this (at the dealer). It attempts to estimate your height to automatically have it in an optimum position in the event of a rear end collision.

3. This only applies to sport model. I was checking the rear of the car earlier today after driving for about 30 min., and I noticed exhaust tips seem to be sticking out. I looked down from above the bumper to measure how much it was sticking out. Left side about 0.5 inch and right side about 1.5 inch. An hour later, I happened to check it again before going to the dealer, and shockingly, left was out about .25 inch and right .75 inch.

When I went to the dealer I checked some other E class in the lot, and they all have different ranges between 0 inch to about 0.5 inch. Most cars had a variance between left and right of about 0.25, not as much as mine at 0.5 inch. It's possible when my car cools off completely it will go in more, but I don't have my car now to check.

Can someone please just check it in the morning and after drving it to work to see same result, and if there is any variance between left and right?
As you noticed, they can be adjusted.
4. One the first night, I was testing all the settings inside the car without engine running. It was for about 15 min, and I had radio on, and had heated seat on for about 3 min., and possibly headlamps on.
All of a surden, I see msg popup in the screen, saying the battery is low and power will shut down in 1 min (I think). I was trying to finish off loading CDs then the power shut off in about 30 sec.

After that I tried to start the car, and battery was too weak to start.
I tried to jump start the car, didn't find the battery in the front, and well, it's in the trunk. But the trunk would not open from remote as well as from inside the car. I turned off the headlamp at this point, and waited for about 5 min then tried to start the car again, and this time it barely started. I didn't want to stop the car so drove around for 10 min. Since then the car starts fine.
Might be time for a new battery. These cars tend to go through batteries more often than other cars. You should have been able to leave your headlamps on the entire time for 15 minutes and it should not have resulted in a no-start situation. The battery is covered under warranty and will be replaced free of charge if deemed bad. Have the dealer test and replace if needed.

As the battery goes bad, you will get a warning message in your instrument cluster stating that Convenience Functions Have Been Disabled (meaning heated seats, etc.) until the battery gets sufficient voltage. Then you will receive another message stating that Convenience Functions Are Now Available when it is deemed charged.

First of all, I'm not sure if the battery should run out that soon, and anyone has this kind of experience. Secondly, how do you get to the battery when battery dies? I don't have folding rear seat. I tried the mechnical key but it didn't seem to turn, and didn't want to put too much force.
That keyhole rarely gets used, if any, except for the event of a dead battery. Dust and dirt that swirls up from the road collects there and jams the lock, causing it to be hard to turn. Just clean it off and insert the key. One way will open the trunk - the other way will lock the trunk so it cannot be opened with the electric release (valet mode).

no typo there - life is still good at 69 - erections, physical fitness, motorcycles, you name it - the nicest thing for me is I finally can go to bed when I want and get up when I want instead of all those years we worked when we went to bed when we wanted to and got up when we HAD to -

I got the latest bluetooth adapter from Ebay and installed it last night.
It was very easy to setup and works great.
However, I couldn't find a way to setup "Home" number or some kind of speed dial.

Here is the first picture of my car.

I also have the '07 MY w/Sport Package which if memory serves me right:
the front rotors were drilled,
we got Black birdseye maple trim,
the extremely difficult to clean dbl 10 spoke 18" wheels,
the unmistakeable chrome (shiny plastic) trim around the fogs,
different ground effects elements between the front and rear wheels,
chrome exhaust tips with the rear apron cut outs and finally,
our body is also lowered.
Guys...did I forget anything?

Staggered wheels (one of my favorite) 265 rear, 245 front.
It's only for RWD.

I got the adapter for $275 new including shipping.

A little late to the thread but congrat's on the car!

Yes, the E550's are hard to come by .. though it doesn't appear that way in the Northeast. I'd think that majority of the 550's are sold between the Northeast and West Coast. Though MB no longer publishes production figures I think the number is probably between 3-5K per year ...

Thanks Barry. I very seldom think about that feature (for MBE550: it's pretty much only noticeable in the rain.)
