New owner 2007 E550
Yes, leave the trunk open for ventilation, even though it's a sealed battery, a good safety precaution.
The trunk lights turn off automatically after 5 min, so not a concern.
I'm sure I'll think of more when I sit in it next....

Thanks SPNJ! Great thread.... I had forgotten that the manual mentioned holding down the recirc button to close everything then being able to open the windows again! I should have taken notes while I read the manual....I need a cheat sheet to operate my car! lol...

I'm totally giddy over this car! We are like high school kids! lol... Yesterday I washed and waxed her but I have to say... body doesn't react like it's in high school anymore....ugh...my arms, my back....sucks to get old.... time to invest in a power buffer I think...
On another note.... I just noticed yesterday my E550 has drilled rotors! That is so cool.....lol.. was that an option?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
When I went to the dealer I checked some other E class in the lot, and they all have different ranges between 0 inch to about 0.5 inch. Most cars had a variance between left and right of about 0.25, not as much as mine at 0.5 inch. It's possible when my car cools off completely it will go in more, but I don't have my car now to check.
Can someone please just check it in the morning and after drving it to work to see same result, and if there is any variance between left and right?
All of a surden, I see msg popup in the screen, saying the battery is low and power will shut down in 1 min (I think). I was trying to finish off loading CDs then the power shut off in about 30 sec.
After that I tried to start the car, and battery was too weak to start.
I tried to jump start the car, didn't find the battery in the front, and well, it's in the trunk. But the trunk would not open from remote as well as from inside the car. I turned off the headlamp at this point, and waited for about 5 min then tried to start the car again, and this time it barely started. I didn't want to stop the car so drove around for 10 min. Since then the car starts fine.
As the battery goes bad, you will get a warning message in your instrument cluster stating that Convenience Functions Have Been Disabled (meaning heated seats, etc.) until the battery gets sufficient voltage. Then you will receive another message stating that Convenience Functions Are Now Available when it is deemed charged.

It was very easy to setup and works great.
However, I couldn't find a way to setup "Home" number or some kind of speed dial.
Here is the first picture of my car.
the front rotors were drilled,
we got Black birdseye maple trim,
the extremely difficult to clean dbl 10 spoke 18" wheels,
the unmistakeable chrome (shiny plastic) trim around the fogs,
different ground effects elements between the front and rear wheels,
chrome exhaust tips with the rear apron cut outs and finally,
our body is also lowered.
Guys...did I forget anything?
Yes, the E550's are hard to come by .. though it doesn't appear that way in the Northeast. I'd think that majority of the 550's are sold between the Northeast and West Coast. Though MB no longer publishes production figures I think the number is probably between 3-5K per year ...
