E-Class seats

Hi everyone, wondering how all of you like the seat construction of the new E. My dad has a 2000 E he's going to be replacing later this year and I drive a CLK. As it's been explained to me, the seats on the last generation E and CLK were basically sitting on top of the tracks and that was the cause of the squeaky seats problem. Both of our cars seats have had a squeaky drivers seat.

Anyone know if MB has redesigned the seats? Also, how do you like the increased amount of plastic around the lower bottom portion of the seat?

Thanks for your opinions.

I have a 2002 E320 wagon and haven't noticed any seat squeaks. However, my wife and I think the seats are too hard. I wonder if those of you familiar with the 2003 sedans and the previous generation cars see any improvement in seat comfort.

Thumbs up

I find the '03 E-class seats quite comfortable. The lateral support for the bottom seat is very good, and you don't feel like you are sitting in a bucket. The vertical lateral support is OK, but then I could have ordered the Drive-Dynamic Seats if I wanted the optimum.
Since I didn't own a previous E-class cannot provide you with any comparison.
I do like the plastic compartments under the front of the seat. Nice to keep towels and small clean up items, which are convenient to retrieve in the event of minor "spill".

I have a '99 CLK320 Cabriolet (it is off lease this month). Our new E500 had vastly improved seats. The CLK is hard, but somehow with little support. The E500 seats are more compliant but somehow more firm. So, you don't just sink down immediately but you feel more supported. They are very comfortable.

Hmm.. Wierd not in the CLK's and E's that my friends have.

Yes, they do have more plastic in the lower bottom portion - just like the S-Class seats if thats what you mean.

I agree with the postings here. I went from the W210 to W211 and find the seats to be a major improvement. They feel exceptionally comofrtable and supportive, and the heating function works much better also.

I find the

seats extremely comfortable. They cradle you and are firm, yet not uncomfortable, with good lateral support as well.

Personally, I like the seats. I find them very comfortable and they provide good support. I am 6 foot and 200 pounds and found no discomfort at all on a 2 hour drive last weekend. In my previous car, a Lexus, I found myself shifting around a lot after sitting for more than one hour. I don't have too many miles yet, but so far, no squeaks. The plastic at the base put me off initially, but I don't notice it once I am in the car.

Personally, I do not care for the seats in my E500. I find the bottom cushion too short ( I'm 6') and they do not offer enough thigh support for me. Also, there is not enough tilt available for the bottom cushion. I probably sit back too far and too tilted for most folks... My last vehicle was a 2000 BMW 740i Sport Package and I truly believe that those were the most adjustible and most comfortable seats in any car I have ever owned. I miss that comfort!!!

mb e500 e2 e3 keyless
e500= a great car.
BUT the seats in a BMW sport package are far superior.
The thigh support and 'wrap-around' design are great.
I wish MB had these seats. Probably my only complaint.

I think the front seats are improved over the previous generation E, but the back seats are not comfortable, and were totally compromised in MBs design to increse trunk space.
