Sensor to make the car start -- Repair Cost
A few weeks ago the car would crank fully after turning the key, but would not start. Then you wait 10-15 minutes and it would start. The CEL would be on afterwards, but would eventually go out.
Had this happen again today. So I waited 10 minutes... turned the key, the starter cranked, and the engine went on. I proceeded to drive down a 6 lane road when the car completely conked out.
Got towed to the dealer. They said it was common for a sensor to go out.
I no longer have a warranty. Anyone know what this should cost at a dealer?
They're telling me it'll be around $500. $160 diagnostic fee, the $300 parts and labor if its the sensor.

Thanks guys. Car is being done now.
You are good. It ended up being the camshaft position sender. Dealer is waiving the diagnostic fee. They're charging $140 for the sender and around $320 for labor.
