I just had my oil changed at a NYC-area MB dealer for $89.99

Silver Star in Long Island City sent me an email with service specials, including a Saturday synthetic oil change for $89.99 ($99.99 weekdays) -- perfectly timed for me!

See link for other specials through 5/30/09.

You don't need to fill out the electronic form or click on "submit." Just print it out and bring it with you when you go in.

If the above link doesn't work, try the one below and click on "Service Specials."

My local MB Dealer in Northern Virginia, MB of Tysons Corner, also issues special oil change deals for $89.99. Also when you have your vehicle in for this simple service, you can ask them to check specific systems for updated MB Technical Service Bulletins that might be applicable to your car........if they find any, usually no charge.

Is this with Mobil 1 synthetic?

Because, I just changed my oil myself and it costs about $95+ for the oil/filter/plugs!

A dealer is always gonna use MB spec approved oil. I'm sure my dealer didn't use Mobil1 Branded synthetic on my last oil change. (RO listed the Brand), but the are a multi national chain of multi brands dealership, and wouldn't jepordize their franchise.

Lets face it, dealers are slow right now, and a bargain Lube Service w/ a quick inspection of the vehicle may turn up some billable work that the car might need. They might even turn up a customer that might respond to the special and get an extra oil change that FSS doesn't say is due right now.... and it keeps the department working.

Also you are paying retail for the oil & filter, the dealer is not.

You can always ask the dealer what oil they are using ...

Dealers buy in bulk so their cost is much lower than yours but for me I find the Mobil 1 for $6.30 and the filters are $15 ... so my cost is about $65 for an oil change ..

Yes, my service order says that it is Mobil 1. The retail cost of the oil and the filter is roughly what they charged me for the whole thing -- basically free labor!

RE: Oil Change

I changed mine at home last week; 9 quarts of Mobil1 0W-40, correct Fleece 229.5 filter, and correct drain washer set me back almost $84.00. That is free labor, and you don't need to take the old oil to the recycling Center.

That is a smoking deal! I wish our local MB dealer(s) would offer similar prices.
