Access through firewall

Hi all
First post here. I did a search and wasnt able to find much so I thought I would ask.
I need to run a cable from the engine compartment of my 2004 E500 and I am looking for suggestions on access points where I can drill through. Are there any empty panels or grommet points that I can use or is it just going to be a crap shoot and pray I dont nick something when I come through? It needs to be big enough to fit a CAT5 cable with a RJ45 plug on it

Well, I'm not quite sure about placement. But to minimize risk, you can cut the RJ45 head off, and drill a much smaller hole then re-terminate the cable end. Very easy if you have the know how and an Rj45 crimper.

Now I must ask. What the hell are you connecting?

Ya, I'm thinking the same thing when I saw CAT5 and RJ45.

Look around/under the brake booster. There are usually a couple of rubber grommet covered holes you can access.
