interior advice/help
Just ordered an E500 w/sport,HK,keyless go, fold down rear seats, parktronic, wood wheel (thanks to all the convincing owners on this board) and CD changer. Here is the issue.........
The exterior is brilliant silver (I loved the black, but impossible to keep clean in Canadian winters). What interior looks best?
Charcoal (black) or Ash ? The car will have the black birds eye trim as part of the sports package and the black wood wheel. I know Ash may look nice but how hard will it be to keep clean? I wash my car regularly but am not a detail fanatic like some other owners. Charcoal is nice because of the contrast with the Silver exterior.
Opinions are needed, especially from those who have either of the two combination listed. Pictures would be amazing !
The car has been ordered with charcoal interior but I have two days to change the interior color if I decide. Please help!
Comes down to what is more important, the overall look of the car or the look of the interior.
IMHO I would go for the Charcoal.

Here's why...
Hides dirt *much* better than ash or stone.
Black looks so much more suptuous.
I had tan leather in a previous vehicle. When I threw a bag of pedigree or a cardboard box in the backseat to transport it home from the store, I ended up with either a brown or yellow stripe back and forth across the back seat. It was very difficult, nearly impossible to get rid of.
Those are the reasons why I prefer charcoal.
HTH, YMMV,

because IMHO the black birdseye maple looked much better with Ash interior. Also the lighter trim made the interior appear more roomy.Being an empty nester, we don't have the problem of keeping the interior clean, always.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
This unfavorable condition is obviously exclusive to us northern folks that do wear natural hides exposed to rain/snow en route to our cabin interior. I suppose this could all be overcome by lot's of leather treatment (coat and car interior) and elbow grease, but I'm pretty fond of B. Silver/Charcoal combo's.
Coments?
Agree that the Birdseye maple would look better with ash, but I've had Charcoal leather on my last three Mercedes for one reason; when you enter the car wearing a black leather coat (wife and I) that's wet from rain/snow, the black dye from the coat will transfer to the seat material. Pick a lighter color leather interior and it will over time begin to wear the color of your natural hide outer garments (unless they are covered with hair, or are not dyed with natural/synthetic pigments).
