Navigation.. i know i know..

I tried reading through multiple threads about Navigation installation.. but im still confused..
I am going to pick up a 2005 E55 on saturday but i was JUST told that they accidentally posted that it had navigation, but it does not.
http://www.carthink.net/inventory/sm...UF76J15A764299

There's the link for the car.. VIN # is the last portion of the HTML link.. Car does have the COMAND system but no navigation drive.. From what im assuming, i will have the exact same installation as the Original Poster on this thread.. Is that correct?
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...it-w-pics.html

Im trying to contact the seller to get extra information about the car so i can figure out how to get the navigation up and running.. hopefully someone can chime in.. thanks

Yep, same thing. Not sure on the side panel, as I believe there are different ones for cars with and without folding seats, and AMG may have a different option as well, check the dealer or someone more knowledgeable than me (not hard at all) can correct me. I did not use it or a bracket, I mounted it under the parcel shelf and it's perfect there.

Besides the side panel, you will need the nav drive, disc, bracket, splitter and STAR version code to add the nav to the fiber loop and get Nav on the IC display. Also, you will need to reconfigure the MOST fiber loop as mentioned on the post.

Awesome. Thanks for your help.

Ok just got some new info from the dealer.. The car DOES have the "nav" style trunk liner (trap door for nav) so does that lead me to assume I just need the drive and just plug it right in? Still need cables and bracket probably?

Lastly, does it matter which drive/software I use? Or do all w211's use the same drive/software? Thanks for your help.

All the cables should be there. If there is the panel with the trap door, there should be the bracket too, but if not, you will need that if you want to install it in the OEM location. You will need the nav drive, antenna splitter and maps DVD.

If the panel is there, then they may have removed the drive and maybe the splitter is still there, but who knows without looking at the car. Try to get the latest DVD if you are going to buy it new (2009). Otherwise, you can pretty much get any version, just avoid 2007.1 it had issues and would route you wrong.

The question is: Why was the Nav Deck removed? Was it stolen? Were wires cut or was it unplugged?

Wasn't even on the window sticker so it was never installed.. the dealer said that the only thing he can think of, was that it was going to be installed and was removed last minute.. thus why everything else is installed except the drive unit.. who knows..

I think the bracket comes with the Harman Kardon system.

If your car is loaded with other features like Harmon Kardon, Keyless Go, Parktronic, etc., then your car may already come with the bracket installed. Presumably, since your car is an AMG version, it already came with the bracket.

All you need is the GPS splitter and if you don't want to mess with the MOST ring in the B pillar, you will need an extra MOST fiber adapter.

Here are the part numbers:
GPS antenna splitter A210 820 24 89
MOST fiber adapter A211 540 68 33

This, and the DVD navigation drive unit is all you need to install.

You will find a power cord, GPS connector and MOST adapter behind or around the bracket.

There are two ways to connect the MOST adapter to your DVD navigation drive. The easy way (IMHO) is to buy a MOST fiber adapter from the dealer (Part No. above) and disconnect one of the fiber cables connected to AGW next to the bracket and connect the fiber cable back into the MOST fiber adapter that you bought. Note the arrows on the end of the adapters and connect accordingly. Reconnect the AGW MOST adapter into the the AGW and connect the new MOST adapter into the DVD navigation unit. There will be an extra MOST adapter that you will not use.

Alternatively, you can look into the B-pillar and do the following:
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...n-install.html
In this method, you will use the extra MOST adapter.

Follow the directions for the GPS connector/splitter (from steph280) and connect the power to the DVD drive. Pop in the DVD and you should be good to go.

My local dealer quoted me $169.40 for the splitter and $21.45 for the MOST adapter.. sounds outrageous.. is this right?!?

That is ridiculous. I paid about $60 for both the MOST adapter and the splitter which I already thought was overpriced. You should call another MB dealer and see if they will ship. Or else have your parts dept match the price.
