w211 command problem & esp problem.
Good day guys ! Friend asked for resolving a problem with command in his w211 2002 year.
He turned it ON and there appears only Mercedes-Benz logo and that's all, no music, no reaction on pushing buttons.
He tried to reboot whole car by taking of "+" from main battery, nothing happened.
now he has another problem, after reboot he has error - "esp not available".
can help someone with these 2 problems ?

to get rid of the esp error start the engine and turn the steering all the way from lock to lock so the steering angle sensor can calibrate itself.
dont know about command, i dont like it, tomtom works way better for a quarter of the price ;-)
good luck.

The fault with the Comand not starting up could be the AGW, next time I'd suggest trying to boot the AGW and the Comand by pulling the fuses from these two (for a few minutes). AGW could also need progarmming, Comand actually too if they are as from the factory.

I usually ignore these but since you did not quote anyone, I'd like to clarify that I did not express any option, just facts. Who did you suggest to calm down by the way, I don't find anyone else than one promoting Tomtom being somehow upset? Glad to see comments like this as a third post on the forum.

Just to add a bit of info: The reason that the ESP malfunction came up is because the battery was disconnected. The correct procedure to resolve that has been posted above.
The sound system problem is most likely the AGW, I had the same problem with ---- displaying on the IC display. Several reboots worked for a while (by removing the fuse on the rear SAM not unplugging the battery), but at the end I replaced the AGW with a newer one that has the fan integrated into it.

what does a third post or any number of posts have to do with anything? I`ve been reading this forum for a couple of years just never got round to registering as I havent a w211 yet and my w208 and w168 have been 100% rock solid reliable so I wouldn`t have much useful to contribute. I offered some help to a fellow member and made a throwaway comment at the end about my lack of in depth knowledge about comand, because after trying it in an ML alongside my tomtom i found the navigation to be not as good IMO. I`m sorry if this upsets you but there you go. I dont know where your from so maybe you dont get the calm down dear thing.

Hi guys! So what is the resolution for this problem? I got exactly the same issue here in the car. It's a 2006 W211 E350 4matic. The command center coms on, stays on with the logo for about 30 seconds and goes right off. Help!

Roli and Weasel,
The AGW is about €600 at central Europe Dealers - I replaced mine a few years ago. I think it's actually more in the U.S. Market; it was when I checked.
I replaced mine when I was 'throwing parts' at a MOST problem I was having. Turns out it was the NAVI processor....so now I have my (likely) 100% GWO AGW here in my garage. Roli, I was in Riga many times in 2010, too bad the timing is not better eh?
Let me know if you guys would like my AGW - 2005 model so it probably has the fan as stock.

Yes, it was causing static in the audio system...went through about 2-3 of these, finally got a good one. Apparently they are a known weak point. NAVI drive is about $3000 new, so beware!
I also found that the rear battery is poorly grounded.
