A bit difficult to follow how the wiper system now behaves but are you sure your windscreen is original? Perhaps the windscreen has been replaced and the sensor has not been calibrated for this screen. You would need Star diagnosis to tune it.

If I disconnect the rain sensor will the wipers still work if I turned them on the regular way

E430
rain sensor

So, how can I "disable" the rain sensor on my '01 E430? And if I can, will it "mess up" something else? Thanks.

Wiper problem

I have a W211 E320 and have a problem whereby the wipers wont work at all on any setting nor if I push the stalk in to the wash position. Have noticed that if I apply slight pressure on the wiper arm in an upward direction they will then work however not in the rain sense position. I am inclined to blame the rain sensor however didn't think it would cause the wipers to stop completely. Any advice would be appreciated.
