Just received and installed my NAVI update for my 09 E350. The update took over an hour!

Where did you get the update?

And.... Did the update just add map data that was new since the original factory install?

The update is from Navteq. I talked to them on the phone. I cannot tell when the actual database update occurred. I know that it includes some major road additions in my area that actually happened before I received my car. The problem is that map database updates always lag real time so I think you are stuck either updating to have the latest or just not caring about the database.
