When is the new E Class 4-Matic coming out?.... summer 2003? or somewhere in 2004?

 

Lots of threads on this, but most seem to agree that for the US, it will be introduced as an '04 model, avaiability in fall of this year.

 

How does the 4-matic compare to the Audi quatrro and the BMW 330 ix? Any differences in phliosphy, engineering, and handling with their approach to 4 wheel drive. I realize that the e500 hasn't come out with a 4 matic yet but anything we can learn from how it was done on the S class or the old E class. What do you think about ordering the sports package on a E500 with 4matic. Does that make any sense? Bob

 

I'll leave it to others who have driven all three to give you feedback on differences between the 4Matic and Quattro and ix, but I think getting the sport pkg with the E500 4MAtic will be a great thing. The sport package is almost entirely cosmetic with two exceptions: high-performance w-rated tires and the inclusion of bi-xenon headlamps. Everything else is minor bodywork and interior style changes. I am ordering sport pkg on an E500 4Matic. My order is:

'04 E500 4Matic - Tectite/Charcoal, sport pkg, Panorama roof, Parktronic, AVS, Drive Dynamic seats, HK, CD changer, rear window blind, folding seats, wood/leather steering wheel, Keyless Go, integrated phone, COMAND.

 

Very nice.. a fully loaded E500 4Matic.. If you don't mind me asking, how much is that going to cost you and when do you expect the car to come by? Fall?

 

I'm guessing between $68-$72K depending on the deal I can get. and expecting delivery in fall of this year...Sept/Oct. I'm #3 on the list at my dealership.
