Xenon fired my alternator!!!

Hi guys,
So here is my story.
The car: 2003 E500 with H7 halogen headlights
I got my car second hand with an aftermarket H7 HID kit installed on the standard projectors and was fine no flickering and no problems for 5 months.
I upgraded both headlights to OEM bi-xenon and the car was perfect for 4 months.
Last week I had an idea! Why not put the old HID kit in the high beams I thought! Ummm
So I made a harness incorporating a capacitor (50v with 4700 microFARAD) and the car didn’t through a warning..all fine and enjoyed the bi-xenon and high beam xenons!!! Amazing lumens they were putting

BUT!!! After 30 minutes of flashing the xenons and trying them out …hell broke lose…battery low warning and the car after another 30 minutes died!!
Got it to the mechanic and my alternator is fried! He says it is coz of the xenons I have added in the high beams….so I ended up changing both batteries and the alternator L

So what do you think guys?? I am really afraid to try it again!

You can't put xenon's for high beam.

The OEM BiXenon system incorporates a HID bulb for the low beam. For the high beam, how it works, is that the HID low beam projector opens up more to shoot more light and uses a halogen high beam bulb.

The high beam has to be a halogen bulb because figure that the HIDs need time to warm up. When you flicker your high beams on and off, it is instant. So were is the time needed to warm up the xenon bulb?

I wouldn't do it again. You should put the kit in your fog lights, just have to get the right bulbs .

Mine work great and have worked for over a year.
I used 50 watt H7 rebased and made my own adaptor, NO CAP

gaazmon..thanks for the input...i know what are you talking about
I just wanted to do what Yacht Master did

Yacht Master...

the tech didnt say anything...just u know the usaul "know-it-all" talk...MB didnt do it so you shouldnt...MB knows better....etc etc etc

My guess would be that the alternator decided to go kabeesh on me by chance!

tell me more about your setup?
so how is your experince? .because believe me..i have done exactly what you did!

harness? how come you didnt need capacitors?? do u think it is the capacitors who made the alternator go bad and not a fuse??

When i dont use capacitors a warning light comes in the dash
