NAV unit jammed - anyway of reset - w211, e320, 2004 model
I have fitted a second hand NAV unit from ebay - #MB DVD 211 8701085 7042 0712 . (all other compents working 100% now, except NAV system). The unit is jammed in Germany, just near Frankfurt airport and I am in the uk, it moves, giving me N, S, E & West, and lets me drive down the road etc. However, I live in the UK. It does not want to settle on current location. I have a vers 7 disc in it, have checked the 3 connection - all okay, even tried a new GPS unit, but it wont budge, gives me UK traffic reports and will source UK postcodes, but will not budge from its current position - is the unit defective, or do I have to unlock / reset it some how? Does it need to have an up-grade disc stuck in it?

Hi, yes, I have tried the antenna, also put a new GPS one in to see if it worked with a new one, no difference. When the car moves, it goes according to roads in Germany, but as soon as I get to a "no road" in Germany, but driving on a normal road here, it tells me to turn around. So its picking up movement, but thinks it is in Germany. I have put a version 7 UK / Europe CD in, and selected Great Britain. It gives me the UK traffic information, but still goes back to Germany on the map. If I punch in a UK destination, it gives me directions from Frankfurt. Any further info please?

The fact that there is movement on the map does not mean you have satellite connections, there are sensors on the car that do that in case you are going through a tunnel, etc. If the nav does not pick up a signal, the sensors will eventually show the incorrect info, but the map will move. The only way to know if you have signal from sats is 03w3hj9igr-9uj

No clue, no idea why the gibberish came through, but what I was saying is that the only way to know if you have signal from satellites is by looking on the bottom of the nav screen where it shows them as well as the latitude and longitude. You may have to enable the option on the nav.
