New to MB

Just bought my first MB E550 4matic 2007. Love it but the ride seems a little rough at high speeds 65+, and the car pulls to the left on highway. Dealer says that the vibration I feel in the seat and wheel, is the suspension and the 4matic...anyone have any thoughts on that theory??

Hello and congratulations on your new car. It's great to have you with the MB brand. Since your car is technically a W211 E-Class, you might want to try that forum for more information about your particular model.

E550 Vibration/Suspension

There is no vibration due to suspension or 4Matic on any MB. That's a load of crap. These cars are built to do 120+ MPH with no rattle or vibration, and the E550 is not exactly a budget version MB. Your dealer is out to lunch, or lazy/cheap.

Pulling to the left--is it consistent on different roads and at different speeds? If it is, have them check and fix your alignment.

Congrats and welcome!

Of your 2 complaints, you should be experiencing NEITHER. Don't let the dealer off the hook on them! Go back when there's alot of foot traffic in the showroom, because they're yanking your chain. After they repair the car, it'll ride like no other.

Even in my less-deluxe non-V8, non-airmatic 07 E350 4matic, I have not experienced roughness or vibration from the 4matic drivetrain. Quite the contrary, this car tracks rather nicely at decent interstate speeds. One of the best highway cars I've owned.

I'd try a different stealership pronto.

Check - alignment, air pressures, wheel balancing, wheel damage and airmatic

Agree completely with the other responses. I have an '07 E550 4Matic and it rides like no other car! Ask dealer if you can drive another '07-'09 E550 and you will see what we're referring to.

Have both alignment and wheel balance checked...

Have the dealer verify the 4 wheel alignment. (even with perfect alignment, If you are on a crowned road your car will pull to one side depending on the direction you are traveling.)

given the vibrations at the speed you mentioned, I would think the rim/tire assembly is out of balance, most likely in the front. Have your wheels 'Road Force' balanced. Do some research and see who has the appropriate "Road Force" balance machine in your area.

Good Luck.

The airmatic system should have no vibrations. It's a very advanced and expensive system... and that is what you paid for. These dealers are a**holes with their excuses.

My 07 4Matic was vibrating on the highway. Dealer said a couple of the rims were bent and "fixed" them. Seems fine now - until I hit my next pothole.

If it doesn't feel right to you, there is something wrong with it. I have an E550 (non-4matic) and it is a smooth vibration free ride. ITS A MERCEDES! People are driving our cars at 120mph all day long in Germany, Switzerland, etc.

Go for a test drive with the shop foreman, or take it to an indi shop.
