Stutter/shutter at start up - 05 CDI
On occasion when starting up the car I get a shutter or a stutter from the engine, not the typically smooth startup. What could it be?

Could be contaminated fuel, weak fuel lift pump, fouled injector, or injector pump problem. The best resolve would be a trip to your favorite stealer, . . .I mean dealer.

Fuel Filter?
In addition to the above possibilities, make sure the fuel filter has been changed at around 25,000 miles. I had some poor acceleration and no power problems that we thought might be the EGR valve or something else, but it turned out to be just the fuel filter. There are some DIY stickies for changing it. Good luck.

I've noticed that if I start the engine when it is either completely cold or fully warmed up, it runs smoothly, but if I start the engine when it still not fully warmed up, it will run rough for about 5-10 seconds before smoothing out. It's always done this.
