Aerial amp, aftermarket stereo

I've swapped my original merc stereo for a Kenwood DVD, all works well but radio reception is rubbish. Is there something I need to do to make the car's aerial amp work or should I look at some kind of alternative antenna?

You did connect the aerial amp power lead, did you not?

Quite possibly not - what colour is that and to what does it connect? I'm assuming it will go to the blue Aux lead from the kenwood (currently running to my sub amp)?
