i agree the 3m kit does work.i purchased it in the summer and it came out really good.except after a couple months it came back again.i feel its good to polish them up every week to keep up wit them.other methods do also work depending on the condition of the headlights.i think the 3m kit is a good start off kit to c if they make a diff but using ss3964spd idea might be the best idea if ur headlights are real bad cuz the buffer spins alot faster then a drill.

It's been well over a year since I took the pictures in the first post and my headlights still look as good as they do in the pics.
If I take the car to places where it will be parked for extended periods, such as work, I always try to park with the front end facing north to keep the sunlight from hitting the headlights directly. I think this has made a difference in keeping the headlights clear.

there is a car wash here locally that offers the service for $25... they have done several cars for me over the years... the w210 are really bad about it as well as my last car a 2002 bmw X5... For an extra $30 they will hand cut the 3M film for it...

Where are you located SterlingG?
That's an awesome deal for headlight restoration, and convenient too, being that it's a car wash.

Scratch Out by Kit also works fantastic. It is for taking scratches out of paint, but also advertises to work well on yellowed headlights and it does. I have used it on a couple different cars with great results. Just like wax, use a slightly dampened cloth, apply, let dry, buff off. Available at most auto parts outlets like Checker, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc. Cheap too, about $5/btl.

just did mines as well... i did wet sand and clear my headlights i dont buff, as long as you regularly wax them you get no build up
wish i have before pics they were really really bad, crazy oxidation yellow all the way through, bunch of surface stress fractures. did em both in about an hour, did them on the car just taped it up
but here is the after all done by hand

If you install clear headlight protectors, same as the clear bra material on your headlights and foglights, they do not yellow nor get chipped by stones. I did mine. Very easy and well worth it. The product is available many different places but I bought mine at invisiblemask.com, use code 10off for 10% off.

I did this with my 2003 E320, I did not use a kit though. I bought a $25 buffer from Autozone, Meguire's Polish/Wax and 3M rubbing compound.
Step 1) Compound on
Step 2) Buff Out
-Wipe with cloth towel-
Step 3) Wax on
Step 4) Buff out
-Wipe with cloth towel-
Came out flawless, took me 3-4 minutes each cover.
