Question How to open windows with remote?

At the time of delivery the sales person showed me how to hold the remote and open the windows from outside the car.

I am trying it and am unable to.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Any help would be appreciated.

I know you can close all the windows and sunroof with the remote but I didn't know you could open them as well.

Point the remote at the drivers door and hold the unlock button..takes several seconds (maybe 10-15) It will roll down windows and open sunroof if you hold it.

The opposite if also true when you get out. Hold the lock button and it will close it all up tight.

It does work. I had a little problem at first. Was not holding long enough.

well it doesnt take 10 seconds, after about 3 seconds they will start to roll down, or up. you point your remost about a foor away from the little black box on the handle, one on each of the fron doors. after they start to roll down or up, you need to hold the the button. unlock for roling down, and lock for up.

Your remote's battery dies in about a week. :p

Thanks will try right away.

Does the remote battery recharge with key in the ignition or this is small replaceable battery that you buy from radio shcak?

The remote uses 2 flat round batteries, available most anywhere. The manual has the battery number and replacement instructions. Mine in the SmartKey have all lasted well over a year, but near the end you might see a range reduction or intermittent functioning of the fob red light. The dash port is for communication, not recharging.

It's not a very useful function. By the time you are close enough for the function to work, you are almost in the car. You have to stand at the door and wait for the windows to completely lower. It is however useful for entertaining 5 year olds. You can tell them that the car does this when you snap you fingers, and the trunk lid opens when you click your heels. :p

Remote activation of windows

Has anyone else experienced this?
Any help would be appreciated.[QUOTE]

This feature apparently uses an IR beam so you need to be fairly close to the sensors for this to work. And I have had problems if either the sending or receiving sensors were in direct sunlight.
It is a nice concept but doesn't function as well as the similar feature on BMW's.

Perfect.

First of all : it worked exactly as described by etenn.

Second: One advantage is you can get all 4 windows down fast
just prior to getting in the car. Helps a little in real warm climate. (prevents the delay of opening the door, sitting in the car, putting the key in and then putting all 4 fingers to start rolling the windows down......) may be I am justyfying since now I know how to work it.....

Thanks all.

Them's are fighting words!

"It doesn't work as well as BMW's." I believe the one thing that motivates the men in Stuttgart is when they have been upped by the boys in Munich. (I was told the only reason MB has added 4Matic to its entire line was because of BMW's having expanded availability of their 4 wheel drive option. The horsepower wars seem to follow a similar pattern. Apparently this is the German alternative to focus groups.)

Mine works from about 15 ft. away on either side of the car and takes <3 seconds to start.

The BMW works better when opening, but you have to stick the key in the door and turn to close.

Overall the remote range is 2-3 times better in the MB than the BMW. 745's have really bad range even after they swapped out all the remotes (they were on the same frequency as cell phones and didn't work at all if someone was using a cell phone near the car).
