enabling DVD in motion with STAR

Hi guys,

Can you assist me to enable DVD in motion for my W211 COMAND APS?
The firmware is 21.090 (latest one).
I heard that this can be enabled via STAR DAS but now exactly?

Here are the required steps for activating Video in Motion:

ENGINEERING MODE Menu:
Press Mute + Endcall + Service (all together and hold for 5 secs)

ENGINEERING MODE Extended Menu:
ENGINEERING MODE Menu:
Press # * left cursor arrow (all together and hold for 5 secs)

The new menu items are:
• Dr.Dist – Driver Distraction
• RegCod – Region Code
• Backd…- Backdoor

Driver Distraction menu:
handbrake locked
gear shift in P
speed 0 km/h
speed 10 km/h
general picture lock

Un-selecting these gives you 'Video in Motion'

Note:
The following software update for the headunit will remove access to the engineering menu:
SW-Rel 15.130 Build - SW Year/Week:05/51

I.e, This SW release removes the access to to the DrDIST, RegCode and Backd "hidden menus" so if you have access to multi region DVD's and "Video in motion" you will lose these features if you upgrade your headunit)

Your DAS needs to be activated/registered with developer key.

This method works with my US command (latest firmare):

Firstly go to the language menu by pressing SERV key, then the System soft-key, then the Lang. soft key. Now hold down the 'phone-hangup' key, the small key between up and left on the arrow pad, and the Audio key. This should enter Engineering mode.

No, my command is US version (no DVD).
That method just puts command in Engeneering Mode with new firmware

Thanks for the advice, after a quick 5 minute adjustment, my comand now allows MP3 and DVD playback in motion. Great when the kids are watching, its common sense not to view it when driving !

W211 320 CDI '07

Hello Guys,
i´m from Poland and i got a w211 from 2007 with NTG1 and i wanted to activate watching DVD while driving. The engereering mode doesnt work, because the firmware is the newest one, so i have to activate it with the Star Diagnosis.
Can someone help me how to do this ?
In the comands menu there are 3 options
1st : watching while standing still : on
2nd: watching while driving slowly(i guess 6km/h) : on
3rd: watching while driving: off

So i have turned it into on and ended and i have tried, but it still doesnt work..?

What could i do ? Do i hjave to switch to an other coutnry mode or sth?

Hi,

Sometimes SDS reads all as enabled.
You should change it to disable then save it.
Reboot module or lock/unlock the car.
After this enable it again and lock/unlock the car

No. No need.
I saw similar problem like your on my friend w211.
First time SDS reads parameters all were Enabled, but cant watch in motion.
After I did described above all was ok.

Unlock DVD in motion

Hi all

I'm from France, my car is a mercedes E220 (2007). I have a DVD player but it is not working when the car is in motion. Of course I've read a lot on this forum and with google as well. It seem like with firmware version 21.090 there is no any solution to access the IM ?
I just have access to the advance menu (not the secret menu where we can change the DVD settings)

My questions are:
1/ Do someone here found a way to downgrade the system
2/ Can't we add some additional hardware (like an adaptor) to get the original unit to work in motion.
