MICHELIN PILOT AS TIRE QUESTION

I bought 4 Michelin Pilot AS tires a couple of years ago from Sears. Somehow got 2 nails in one tire & were told by Discount Tire it can not be patched.

I have Road Hazard warranty on these & called Sears but was told these are or have been phased out & are replaced by AS Plus tires.

Will we have to get 2 new tires or 4 new tires as a result. And guy in Tire Department who actually sold me the tires I says he would have to call Michelin.

This is for a 2004 Mercedes E320 wagon.

Help!

Thanks.

Michelin Pilot A/S and A/S+

I had several sets of these tires on my recently departed 2000 740i Sport...they wore well and although they cost quite a lot, I got Michelin to agree to allow about $100/tire every time I replaced them due to "premature" wear. I bought all of them through Discount Tire as well...the A/S "+" replacement for the original A/S's is essentially the same tire in every significant way and they directly relace the originals with no issues presuming they're replaced with the same size...In fact the "+" was slightly less expensive than it's predecessor to begin with in my case...hope this helps.

Well when he took the car to Sears they said there was only one screw in the tire (and not 2 nails) and that they could repair it - which they did. Now of course I am left wondering - did Discount Tire tell us the truth or did they just try to sell the guy with the Mercedes a new tire or two. Or did Sears now want to honor Road Hazard warranty and just tell us tore was fixable. Now I feel we need a 3rd opinion The tires were originally bought in 5/08 and I drive the car up until a couple of months ago so probably only put 6-8K mile son them. My husband in past 2 months has probably put 2-3K but at most these tires likely only have 10K on them so I am hoping they will all be ok for awhile. Good to know the replacements are a bit less expensive too. Thanks.

TireRack.com has an excellent Website where you can research tires for Michelin and all other brands, get customer feedback ratings, TireRack.com test results, etc. They are a huge volume online dealer and may even have some of those tires still in stock.

I have these tires on my G35. You can definitely patch/plug them. I have plug one tire for over 20K now without any problems.
