This is not only MB's fault. The only bad thing they did is going with NavTeq as the Map distributor. They are the ones who create the media for our cars. The only thing MB could do is change the distributor of the media disk with better information.

I thought this was the case but then someone claimed that SUVs have all small roads on the map while sedans do not.
There must be two cases, Naveq does not have maps for the area in question or MB requested Navteq to only include paved roads or major roads that certainly are safe for ordinary cars. Can someone check this from Navteq map reporter for an area that seems to be covered by the map DVD content but certain roads are missing?
I find it odd if Navteq did not have US roads covered (excluding "recent" changes, sometimes recent is more than 6 monts, even more) as they are a US company and car navigation has been more advanced in the US compared to most of Europe (perhaps German excluded). And the Navteq maps really cover every possible, should I say impossible detail in Europe at least at my area. Small roads that are definitely not intended for a sedan are included (navigation avoids selecting those but if you drive against instructions, the navi works fine with those roads).
I read somewhere once that MBUSA got sued for either someone who got lost or someone who was looking for a house number with help of a MB Navi to break in or something like that and that's the reason why MBUSA came up with the not so detailed maps and the house number ranges.
I was looking to find the source again but I just can't find it through google. I will post it once/if I find it again.
a few weeks ago i got a post card from MB in the mail. Said new Navigation is available at the dealership for $249. I'm thinking about getting it, since the county i live in has developed so much in the last 3/4 years (car is 2006) and i could really use the directions to get to the restaurants/etc.
Yes i can get a garmin/tom tom, but don't like the look of it stuck to my windshield. If the MB Nav Update will give me all the new roads/locations, i will get it.

Where did you put the disk in? COMAND or in the trunk?
Hi guys and gals.
I'm very VERY new to MB world and this forum. Lately I have been trying to get my NAV updated on my 2006 E55. I have purchased a firmware and Nav 2015 update from CDs eBay, but nothing had changed.
I did some reading benzworld.org and in here, but did not find clear instructions on what files should be on an update disk or, if I'm burning a CD, in what order to put those files.
If someone can direct me to a proper page/thread, I would be very grateful.
Thank you,

can you be more specific? Pictures of your COMAND and the CDs?
Called Seattle MB yesterday on the NAV disc. They said the newest they had for my 2007 CLK 63 AMG was 2015.
Yeah, they stopped that update about then. Your phone is way better. You can find links for the image out there if you search for it. It's a DVD and it goes in the trunk. You just make an image on the DVD once you download it. You can sometimes find copies on eBay, but if you find the image online, it's free.

What exactly should I be taking pictures of on my COMMAND screen?
A bit more detail on what has took place:
The old DVD nav (that came with the car) is from 2004.
Since I knew that firmware needed to be updated first, I inserted that CD into COMMAND unit. It took maybe two minutes for it to update. Then I've inserted NAV disc in the trunk, and it took also about 2 minutes to update. Once update was finished, I didn't see ANY differences from 2004 to 2015 disc.
Below are the pictures of both CDs bought from eBay.
Ok, what differences did you expect to see? The graphics don’t change, only the map data itself. More POI, new roads and updates roads of the traffic pattern has changed due to construction. Not more not less.

I didn't see any road updates. If anything, I see less options: can't select a specific house number, just a range of numbers to choose from.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 2015 NAV DVD size is 3.2GB (+/-), not 2.5 GB, which is what the ebay CD is.
That’s meant to be that way with NTG1. Not a bug. It’s because of Americans and a stupid lawsuit and people scared someone could actually find their address when they wanna navigate.
