2004 E320 Tires??

I currently have ContinentalContact CH95's on my E320. These were are the car when I purchased it two months ago. The tires have about 80 percent of wear left and are too good to throw away. I don't like the road noise and have had them balanced hoping to resolve the problem. Has anyone tried Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's? I'm open for suggestions.

Yeah, these are known to be noisy. Good tire otherwise, but noisy. Have you tried rotating them? That will sometimes quiet down a tire that is noisy to due to wear.

If you want quiet, the best tire I have experienced is the Michelin Primacy MXV4. It is extremely smooth and quiet, and drives reasonbly well too. Not inexpensive, however.

These are a good tire though. Have them on our 02 CL500 and they've lasted quite a while, but they weren't cheap, but we were lucky since half the cost, Michelin took care of under the tire warranty.

The Michelin HX MXV4 is an outstanding tire, but also super expensive. I say they're the best tire I've ever owned, for the purpose it was used.

But recently, I've discovered the new Continental ContiExtreme Contact DWS All-Season tire. I have a set of them on my uber powerful SL600 and absolutely love them. So much in fact, that I just ordered a set for my E500. They're quite a bit cheaper than the Michelin's and so far, just as good.

They're non-directional, so you can rotate them, and have been everything I could ask for in an all-season tire so far.

Give them a look.

I have instaled the same Continental Extreme Contact DWS a week ago on my E500 and I agree with Benz-O-Roma, very quit, soft ride and very good tractioan in wet conditions. I have thees tires on my C230 Coupe on the rear, Michelin on front, and I'm very satisfied with thees tires. I have them instaled at discount tires, and you can do a price match with tirerack, plus taxes of course. enjoy. good luck

For the stock 16" size (225/55/16), I HIGHLY recommend the Michelin Pilot Exalto AS...around $150 a piece at Costco or Discount Tire and better than the OEM MXV4's in every way. They are a perfect replacement if you want an oem-type tire. We just replaced our first set of Exaltos with another identical set on the '06 cdi.

Compared to OEM Michelins:
-better handling, especially in wet weather
-Less noise
-better ride
-last longer (1st set lasted 65k, and would have gone at least another 10k if the inner shoulders weren't worn - compared to 47k on original MXV4)
-no decrease in fuel economy

I'm going to rotate my left front to the right rear and maybe that will help. I want to put more miles on my ContiTours before I convert to Michelins. On another topic, Am I correct to tell my local tire shop that if my E320 had sport suspension it would be indicated as "Sport" on the trim forward of the front door(s)?
Merry Christmas to Y'all.
